What is love?

What is love?

You know that is such a great question as well as a very complicated one. And it is one I have been contemplating a lot lately. What exactly is love? Well, I know for a fact that it means very different things to many different people.

Now, if you were to do a google search of the definition of love you would come across many different answers, but I have a few questions for you. What do you think love is? What is love to you? How do you convey your love for others? How do you enjoy receiving the love of others?

I ask these questions because love can mean many different things to many different people. And it’s okay to have a different definition of love than others. Like all aspects of life, there is always more than one truth and more than one way of seeing things.

I personally believe that true love is unconditional. There is no ego in unconditional love. There is no need for one partner or person to have more control over another in unconditional love. Unconditional love encompasses true acceptance of one’s self as well as their partner, their mom, their sister, their brother, their friend, etc.

To me, love is free from judgements and preconceived notions. It is truly opening your heart to others and giving all of yourself to yourself and others. Love is accepting yourself and others in good times and bad. Love is magical, it’s amazing, and it’s scary but it’s also so exhilarating and full of new experiences, twists, and turns.

To me, love is more than just a feeling, an emotion, it’s an embodiment. Being loved and being loving are two different aspects that go hand in hand in my opinion. So, now that you know my interpretation of love, what’s yours? It’s okay for your definition of love to be similar to mine or to have no similarities at all. It is all about the type of love that you wish to experience in your life.

Now, with that being said, I do believe that all definitions of love do involve respecting your own boundaries as well as the boundaries of all parties involved. I feel that this component of love is crucial because if one encroaches upon the boundaries of others, the respect is lost, and can you truly love someone else if there is no respect in the relationship? I don’t believe so.

So, I know I have given you some food for thought and my own rendition of what love is, but everyone’s life is different and everyone has their own mind, so it’s not about my interpretation of love but your own. So, I hope after reading this that you are delving into and formulating what love truly means to you. And with that being said, I wish you so much love, joy, and happiness on your journey through life.
