Why do people get mad at you and threaten you with jail and hospitals when you want to die? Why don’t they actually care and want to help? Why does society do this to people who are just lost?
Honestly, I’ve always wondered that myself. Instead of helping others and rehabilitating someone, they choose to tuck people away from society as if they would contaminate others. I do see how one could think that taking an individual away from their environment is a great idea because it most likely triggered their suicidal thoughts. But on the other hand, life is ALL about triggers, so shouldn’t we equip people with the tools they need to overcome those triggers?
As I’ve said, I can see both sides of the situation. And sometimes society frowns upon being lost and just drifting, but you have to lose yourself to truly find yourself. Sometimes being lost is right where you need to be and is actually you being on track on your life journey. I feel that sometimes the sadness and depression we see in others may be too much because it requires us to reflect on our level of happiness and our truth and whether we’re living it or not. Sometimes people may want to help, but may not know how, and that’s okay, but I think people forget that just being there, and not trying to fix anyone or anything is support and help enough.
And society hates individuality and people that are outside of the norm. For some reason, suffering from depression and experiencing suicidal thoughts are not the norm, even though much of the world, over 300 million people, have suffered or are currently suffering from depression. I believe that society likes for everyone to pretend that they’re happy and fine and that the world is just this happy, and amazing place, but there must be a reason that 300 million people are suffering or have suffered from depression. Maybe that reason is because society wishes for everyone to look a certain way and act a certain way, and when we choose to veer from that norm, society tries to push us back into those nice, little, confined boxes, thus leading to depression and thoughts of suicide.
Just know, that if you suffer from depression or suicidal thoughts, that you aren’t alone and that you aren’t weird. So many people I’ve encountered on my time here on earth have come up against depression and suicidal thoughts and have beat it, and I know that you will too! It’s usually when we say no to society’s demands on us and we take back our power, that we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel and that society was pushing those norms upon us because someone pushed those norms upon society. So once again, you have to be lost to find yourself, and society has been lost for a while, but the difference is that you are on the path to finding yourself and society’s path to authenticity seems to be taking a while. So, choose to forgive society and to forget them, you are the captain of your ship and it will never matter what others think of you or perceive of you. And just hang in there, it all gets better!
