My professor is treating me horribly and he has made it clear that he plans to fail me, no matter what I do, even though my tutors tell me I’m great in this subject. What should I do?
Have you tried speaking with the Provost? It honestly seems that nothing you do will be good enough for this professor, so why don’t you try going over his head? It’s not okay for people in positions of power to manipulate subordinates. Also, try reaching out to the department head. Clue them into what’s going on and what your tutors are telling you.
And don’t let this professor get to you. Try to record your interactions with him. The next time he says something mean or negative, remember to record with your cell phone. Also, reach out to the other students in your class and talk to them about what you’re experiencing. Maybe you’re not the only one this professor is treating wrongly. And also, it’s really great to have witnesses if it comes to the point that it’s his word against yours.
Just don’t believe anything this professor is saying. In fact, he probably knows you’re better at this topic than he is, and he feels inferior in comparison to you. Bullies will only bully those that they believe to be better than them, whether it’s about looks, being smarter than them, being more popular than them, or being more knowledgeable on a topic than them. Maybe that’s why he’s picking on you and trying to make your life harder? Just don’t buy into what he says and just believe that you will come out of this class with a great grade. Trust in the Provost and the department head, that they will see you through this.
