Should we trust someone who once betrayed us? Do people change?
That is such a good question and a question that we all have come across during our journey here on Earth. And there are so many ways of looking at both of those questions.
When it comes to people changing, I do believe that people can change. But people have to change for themselves. They cannot change just to please others. But, I honestly believe most people don’t change. And sometimes, people are meant to take us through things and to not be with us forever on our journey. And it’s okay to forgive, forget and move on. Ultimately, you have to do what is best for you and your emotional well-being.
Now when it comes to trust, that is such a sticky question. What is your gut telling you to do? Always trust your intuition! Usually, when someone betrays us, we see a side to them that was always there, but we were too blinded by our love for them to notice. You could always give that person another chance, but make sure it’s something you want to do and that it does not come from a place of guilt.
When it comes to forgiveness, that can mean many things for many people. To some it means forgiving, forgetting and moving on, not continuing to have a relationship with that person. To others it means forgiving, forgetting and continuing to have a relationship with that person. Which type of forgiveness resonates with you and where you are right now mentally and emotionally? As I said, there are many ways of looking at these questions and situations. Ultimately, you have to do what is best for your well-being and mental health.
