I have no idea what I want to do with my life, I don’t know how to start looking at colleges and it’s harder because I don’t know what I want to do in life. I’ve narrowed it down to the fact that I want to stay semi-local and what subjects I like or might be interested in. But it’s really overwhelming to look for a starting job (I’m in high school) or to look for colleges, scholarships, how to apply, etc. If you could give advice/resources that would help?
It’s okay, I guarantee that there are others in the world feeling exactly the way you are feeling. When I entered college, I was confused about what to major in but also confused if I picked the right school. Just remember, we can always change our circumstances or decisions. All decisions are not final, we just have to try and to be positive.
When it comes to looking for scholarships, I can definitely help you with that! Below I will be linking two websites, one which offers scholarships based on state and one which offers scholarships based on country. Also, do you know if you’re eligible for financial aid? You can find out by speaking with your parents and then applying for financial aid. I will definitely provide the link to the financial aid website down below. Also, since you’re staying in state, you might be eligible for university grants. University grants are funds that colleges offer exclusively for students that attend their school and have a residence in that particular state. Grants tend to be need-based and are available to students based on criteria such as family income. You can always look up the grants offered for each school you are interested in. You just have to visit the school’s website. And there you will find the eligibility requirements for each grant.
When it comes to finding a job, I would use Indeed. They post thousands of new job positions every day, and they are the number one job site in the world. I personally have used Indeed in the past, and it has always worked out for me. Now, whether or not to attend school or work full-time is up to you. Have you thought about working and attending school? You could work full-time and attend school part-time or work part-time and attend school full-time, the choice is yours. Or you could work part-time and attend school part-time, that way you can ease into college life and the workforce. Which path resonates the most with you right now? And remember, you can always change your path! You are the master of your ship, never forget that. I have the utmost faith in you that you will make the right decision, the decision that is best for you.
